A Guest Detective

This week we have a special reading guest... Ms. McNutt!

She was so excited about all the great reading our TVS Detectives have been doing, that she wanted to share what she has been reading.

I am glad that Ms. McNutt is working to "Crack the Case of Summer Reading!"

Here's what she says:

Oh my goodness, I have loved my summer reading!

I get butterflies in my stomach when I walk into Barnes and Noble, Lifeway, Borders (you name it, I've been there) to pick out my next book to read. I feel like a child in a candy store...my eyes get huge and I hardly know where to begin.

I recently made a trip to Half Price bookstore because I wanted to get as many books for my vacation at a good price. I chose my vacation spot this summer based on where I could sit on a patio, drink a delicious sweet iced tea, and lose myself in a great book. But after visiting Half Price Boosk, here was my challenge: I packed so many books for my trip that I had to pay extra to check my suitcase!

You would be proud of me, Mrs. Murphy, as I am reading a myriad of different genres. I have read a great mystery that kept me turning page after page without coming up for air. Historical fiction is a new genre for me and I have learned that I love being taken back in time. I have also read many, many, many books that Dr. Krahn has suggested in order to help me be a better teacher, principal, leader, and learner.

Summer is going way too fast! I don't know if I have enough days left to read all the books that are on my nightstand. Thank you for encouraging me to read, read, read. I am a smarter, more informed, much more relaxed person today after a summer of reading than when school ended in May.

Happy reading, Mrs. Murphy

Thank you for sharing your experience, Ms. McNutt. It's sounds like you are on your way to being a SUPER SLEUTH!

    Dog Diaries
    By Betsy Byars

I read this book in June. The chapter I liked best was “Bo versus Bank Robber”. I thought Bo was funny because he liked paper sack lunches. The problems he had was hanging on to the paper sack and escaping the bank robber. All the diaries of the WOOF Society were interesting and fun to read.

Tales of a Fouth Grade Nothing

Peter wants to be on TV like his little brother Fudge. Fudge gets on TV becuase he's a cute three year old. Peter's pet turtle gets eaten by Fudge. Peter worries about his pet Dribble.

I thought that it would be funny and terrible to have a brother like Fudge.

    Soupy Saturdays

The Pain's real name is Jacob. The Great One's real name is Abigail. The Great One and the Pain really don't like each other. The Pain played soccer but he lost. The Great One wins every time she plays. Every chapter is about Saturdays.
I liked the book because in every chapter one person says their story.

"Detective LaRue: Letters from the Investigation"

Ike, the dog, tries to find Ms. Hibbins' cats. Ike was put in jail because the police thought he took them, but he is trying to find the cats so everyone knows it wasn't his fault.

I liked the book because Ike was helpful. I didn't like the book because the cats were mean.

The Mysterious Case of Allbright Acadamy
    By Diane Stanley

I liked the part were Franny was trying to get into Dr.Evergood's computer but was forced to stay in a closet so she wouldn't be seen by Dr.Evergood.

I thought it would be cool and weird to go to a school like that.

The best part of this book is when the wild things gnash their terrible teeth and roll their terrible eyes and show their claws, but Max still leaves for home.
